Last week just flew by . . . first we had a work party for our wonderful student Megan! She has worked with us for three years!
Here is a semi-homemade card I made for her and a picture of us.
Then the kids had eye doctor appointments ~ happy to say they both can see great and no glasses needed! So far they don't have my eyesight :)
Then we finished up two weeks of swim lessons for Hannah. She loved it!! They even started learning how to dive during the last few days.
And this weekend I spent about an hour filling up water balloons - but it was great to see the kids enjoy it!
Then 4h of July evening . . . we stayed home and enjoyed ~ we all love fireworks! We tried to put Marley out front with us but she only barked and tried to run in the street to check out the fireworks so we had to put her inside. She barked awhile but only because she wanted to be with us - oh well, at least she wasn't scared.
So the wonderful State of California government has now forced a 3rd furlough day on us state workers. More mandatory cut in pay . . . this will make almost 15% in four months . . . and the State will now be shutting down three Friday's a month starting next week. Depressing to say the least! Since I'm pretty sure my mortgage company won't take an IOU - which is what I could get for my paycheck next month - it's been a rough day and a day full of frustration, anger, and sadness. So I'm driving home from the train station tonight listening to the radio. An ad comes on talking about being positive, being healthy, communityty togetherness, share your knowledge, blah, blah, blah is pretty much what I heard as I was rolling my eyes due to my wonderful mood. Then I paused . . . realizing the ad was for the importance of self check and mammograms and the realization hit me that yes life sucks right now - financially - but I'm healthy. I really am healthy, a bit overweight, but healthy. I have my health. My husband has his health. My kids are healthy. It really could be so much worse. Then I drove up the driveway and saw the kids' whirley flowers and airplane blowing the the hot breeze and I smiled. I'm home, safe, with my family and we are all healthy. Guess I just needed a reminder . . . :)
